New Platinum Jubilee Community Orchard

Published: 11 April 2022

Brasted Parish Council has recently converted a field, between the allotments and Park Farm, by the A25, into a community orchard. In March, local volunteers planted nearly 300 trees. These include walnut, crab apple, oak, whitebeam, beech, sweet chestnut, aspen and maple trees, together with 70 fruit trees (pear, plum, gage, cherry and apple) in honour of the Queen’s Jubilee. The parish council has created a new access route to the orchard from the car park at the recreation ground. All residents are very welcome to visit the new orchard and when the trees are more mature, everyone will be able to pick and share the fruit.

The parish council is enormously grateful to Cllr David Edgar and all the volunteers who have given up so much time to plan and plant the trees. We do hope the orchard will be a welcome addition for the Brasted community.
